Ecco la breve intervista con Michele Pogliani. Se avete altre domande per lui, lasciate pure un commento qui sotto!

WDM: Siamo felicissimi che ti sia unito al gruppo degli insegnanti del World Dance Movement Italia quest’anno! Cosa si possono aspettare gli studenti dalla tua lezione?

Michele Pogliani: Anch’io sono felicissimo!  La mia lezione è molto strutturata e di livello tecnico piuttosto alto. Ha lo scopo di far muovere i ballerini sin dall’inizio. Di solito, imposto la lezione il primo giorno e poi la espando durante la settimana attraverso combinazioni lunghe e dinamiche.

WDM: Al WDM,  saranno assegnati oltre 60.000 Euro in borse di studio grazie ai nostri straordinari sponsor. Queste borse di studio saranno assegnate da tutti gli insegnanti del WDM osservando gli studenti a lezione. Quali saranno gli elementi che considererai per scegliere i vincitori?

Michele Pogliani: Non presto necesariamente attenzione alle doti fisiche. Sono interessato al controllo che il ballerino ha del proprio corpo. Apprezzo la qualità del movimento, la musicalità, la dinamicità e generalmente un ballerino “cool” e che risulta naturale.

WDM:  Ogni compagnia di danza è differente e ricerca cose diverse in un ballerino, ma secondo te, quali sono gli elementi “universali” che TUTTE le compagnie di danza ricercano quando voglino assumere un nuovo ballerino?

Michele Pogliani: Penso che un bravo ballerino possa potenzialmente addattarsi ad ogni tipo di coreografia, se ha l’umiltà di credere nel lavoro del coreografo. Dall’altra parte ogni lavoro coreografico richiede delle qualità specifiche. Ritengo che, oggigiorno, il lavoro di molti coreografi ha perso la sua originalità e questo è dovuto al delegare troppo ai ballerini la creazione del materiale.

 WDM: Quando hai iniziato a ballare e perché?

Michele Pogliani: Ho iniziato piuttosto tardi, quand o avevo 17 anni. Originariamente volevo essere un critico di danza e ho inizato a fare lezione per quel motivo. Ma a breve ho sviluppato una passione diversa per la danza e ho deciso di provare a traferirmi a NYC, dove ho vissuto e lavorato per 12 anni.

WDM:  Se potessi scegliere una città ideale dove vivere per la danza, quale sarebbe e perché?

Michele Pogliani: Domanda interessate. Negli anni ’80 e ’90 (quando ero negli Stati Uniti) avrei decisamente detto NY. Oggi trovo Israele e l’Europa del Nord molto più interessanti.

We are so happy to introduce you to our new World Dance Movement faculty member Michele Pogliani! Michele will teach Modern Dance at WDM Italy (Castellana Grotte, BA) the first week, July 7-12. Register before May 31 to save on your registration fee and classes!

Here is a brief interview with Michele Pogliani. If you have other questions for him, please leave a comment below!

WDM: We are so excited that you joined our WDM Italy faculty this year. What can student expect from your class?

Michele Pogliani: I am very excited as well! My class is very structured and highly technical with the aim to have the students move from the start. I normally set the class the first day and expand it during the week with very dynamic long phrases.

WDM: At WDM, over $75,000 will be assigned thanks to our amazing sponsors. These scholarships will be awarded by all WDM faculty members while observing students in class. What are the things you will look for in order to choose the winners?

Michele Pogliani: I don’t necessarily look for physically gifted dancers. I am interested in a dancer that has control of his/hers body. I admire the quality of the movement, the musicality, the dynamic and generally a natural, cool mover.

 WDM: Every dance company is different and looks for different things in a dancer but in your opinion, do you think there are “universal” elements that ALL dance companies look for when hiring a new member?

Michele Pogliani: Well, a great dancer may fit in any kind of work if he/she has the humility to embrace the work of a choreographer. On the other hand every work requires certain quality. I feel that, in this time and age, the work of many choreographers has lost its originality since they delegate too much of the creation of the material to the dancers.

 WDM: When did you start taking dance classes and why?

Michele Pogliani: I started quite late, when I was 17. Originally I wanted to be a dance critic and that’s why I started taking class. But shortly after I started taking classes I developed such a passion for it that I decided to give it a shot and moved to NY, where I lived and worked for 12 years.

 WDM: If you could choose your ideal place to live for dance, where would that be and why?

Michele Pogliani: Interesting question. In the 80′s and 90′s (when I was in the US) I would have said NY for sure. Nowadays I find Israel and north of Europe the most interesting dance scenes.

Students from around the world will compete for the chance to be noticed by a world-renowned panel of judges and to win amazing prizes. Besides several cash prizes, The World Dance Movement International Dance Competition (July 13) will award prestigious scholarships for international dance studios such as Broadway Dance Center (NYC), Peridance Capezio Center (NYC) and Studio Harmonic (Paris) as well as for Complexions Contemporary Ballet‘s Summer Workshop co-directed by dance superstar Desmond Richardson, who will also teach at WDM Italy.

Alcune parole da parte di un fan del World Dance Movement molto speciale… / A few words from a very special fan of WDM…

Il racconto del Sig. Nicola Pagano, ormai diventato un grandissimo fan e sostenitore del World Dance Movement, ci ha emozionato moltissimo e abbiamo voluto condividerlo con tutti voi.
PS: Lasciate un commento qui sotto raccontandoci cosa rappresenta il WDM per voi.

Nicola Pagano: Il mio incontro con la Danza è stato quasi fortuito. Parlo non di un incontro qualsiasi, ma di quelli che ti cambiano la vita. La scintilla scoccò in occasione della 4^ edizione del workshop international World Dance Movement, tenuto a Castellana Grotte BA nel luglio 2012.

Incrociai questo Evento una luminosa mattina d’estate, mentre passeggiavo nelle vicinanze della scuola di Danza “Artinscena” di Annalisa Bellini (partner italiano del WDM). La mia attenzione fu attratta dal cartellone che pubblicizzava l’Evento e da un insolito andirivieni di giovani. Spinto da innata curiosità per le novità, entrai, non fosse altro che per un saluto ad Annalisa, che conosco e apprezzo. In anni ormai lontani abbiamo collaborato nell’allestimento di alcuni spettacoli teatrali del genere music-hall, con la partecipazione di ballerini della sua scuola di Danza. Ritornai nei giorni successivi e fu attrazione fatale. Il workshop si articolava in tre stage, di una settimana ciascuno, che si concludeva con un Gala nel corso del quale venivano consegnate Borse di studio, per un totale di 30, agli allievi più meritevoli. Avevo preso contatto con un mondo affascinante e ne ero rimasto conquistato.

Quando si spensero le luci della ribalta, pubblicai un articolo che mi procurò molti apprezzamenti e qualche gradito ringraziamento. Soprattutto ero gratificato e consapevole di aver scoperto un mondo   che nella sua intrinseca essenza è bellezza, eleganza di movimenti, gestualità espressiva, tecnica raffinata; ma al tempo stesso si alimenta di assiduo lavoro, sudore, impegno, passione, amore per l’Arte. La conoscenza di Michèle Assaf, Direttore artistico di WDM., che impersona tutto ciò in modo mirabile, è la conferma che la Danza mi ha schiuso un mondo che merita di essere vissuto.

Questo l’antefatto, che nel tempo ha avuto sviluppi successivi. Mi sono iscritto al Corso di Storia della Danza presso la Facoltà DAMS (Danza, Arte, Musica, Spettacolo) dell’Università statale Roma Tre, che ho frequentato, sostenendo l’esame finale col massimo dei voti.

I coniugi Annalisa Bellini e Mimmo Daoli mi onorano della loro cordiale amicizia, che ricambio, unitamente ad una operosa, entusiastica collaborazione. La 5^ edizione di W.D.M. si terrà a Castellana Grotte dal 7 al 28 luglio.

L’appuntamento è per luglio prossimo venturo. Obiettivo, per il quale sta lavorando lo Staff. Artistico e Organizzativo, è l’allestimento di un Evento sontuoso, all’altezza delle migliori aspettative.

Mr. Nicola Pagano’s story  has really touched our hearts and so we decided to share it with all of you. Please feel free to leave a comment below telling us what WDM represents for you.

Nicola Pagano: My encounter with Dance has been almost fortuitous. I’m not talking about a random encounter but about one of those are life changing.  Everything started last July, during the 4th edition of World Dance Movement Italy, in Castellana Grotte. I found out about WDM in a bright summer morning while I was taking a walk by Annalisa Bellini’s dance studio (WDM’s local partner). My attention was captured by a big banner that advertised World Dance Movement and by a big group of young people. Pushed by innate curiosity for new things or even just to say hi to Annalisa who I know and appreciate, the next day I went back and it was love at first site. I  found out that World Dance Movement was a 3-week event and at the end of each week there was a Gala performance. During the gala performances several scholarships were awarded to 30 of the best students. I met the dance world by chance and I realized I was now fascinated by it.

When World Dance Movement ended I wrote an article about the event that was highly appreciated but above all I was happy to have discovered a new world. A world with its intrinsic beauty, elegance of its movement, gestural art and refined technique that lives thanks to the constant and hard work, sweat, passion and love for Art. The meeting with Michèle Assaf , WDM artistic director, who personifies all this in an admirable way, confirms that Dance showed me a world that was worth to be discovered and lived.

The encounter with World Dance Movement had interesting developments…I enrolled in dance history course Rome 3 University. I took all the classes and passed the final test with honors.

I’m a good friend of Ananlisa Bellini and Domenico Daoli who are WDM Italian partner and I’m glad to collaborate with them. The 5th edition of WDM is this July 7-28 with a brand new international competition (July 13, 14, 21) we are all looking forward to. The entire staff is working hard to put together a fantastic event that won’t leave you disappointed.

In your opinion, what are the top 3 things that make World Dance Movement different from other international dance workshops?

Bruno: In my opinion, the top 3 things that make World Dance Movement different from other international dance workshop are :
1) The conviviality and the family spirit.
The fact that we are together for one, two or even three weeks, brings us closer together. We can share ideas, opinions and learn to know the different ways of living dance in the countries where the students that join us come from.

2) The energy and the intensity of work.
In each class, you can feel a real professional energy. Each teacher, each student give their best so that the exchange is the most intense possible. On top of the technical work, there is a real willingness to help each other find their own dance, their own value. As a teacher, I am totally inspired by the energy and the determination of each student.
3) Internationality.
The fact that the students come to WDM from so many different countries creates a unique energy. More than learning how to dance you learn life. The exchanges and dialogues, spoken or danced are way more intense and they create very deep links. It is very fulfilling and that is what really creates the WDM family.

Observing WDM students, have you noticed a change in the way they approached the classes on day one and the way they are on the last day of class?

Bruno: Each student comes to WDM with his or her own background, technical, but also cultural. They will face a whole lot of new experiences that will definitely modify their way to look at Dance. Just the fact that they are able to work in a class that is at their real level will allow them to use all their capacities every day, and that will make them progress technically. Then the specificity of each individual is a big force at WDM so you develop your personality and a lot of confidence in yourself and in your dancing. Last but not least, being surrounded by other students from different countries and culture already allows learning of languages, but also curiosity and deep exchanges at all times. Not to mention the highly professional attention and management from the faculty and team chosen by WDM.

As a dance teacher what makes you the most excited about working at WDM?

Bruno: To me, leaving for a new WDM experience is like going to meet up with my family. I know I’m going to live new intense emotions that are going to be in my memory forever. I know I will share intense artistic and human moments. I don’t go to work at WDM I’m only there to appreciate the knowledge, the culture and the emotions of everybody and share mine.

Pour toi, quelles sont les trois qualités principales qui différencient le World Dance Movement des autres stage de danse internationaux?

Bruno: A mon opinion, les 3 choses qui rendent different le stage World Dance Movement des autres stages sont :
1) La convivialité et l esprit de famille.
Le fait d etre ensemble sur 1 ou 2 voir 3 semaines , nous amène a être beaucoup plus proches les uns des autres. A pouvoir partager des idées , des opinions et aussi a mieux connaître les differents modes de vivre la danse dans les differents pays que nous cottoyons a travers les eleves qui nous rejoignent .
2) L’energie et l intensite de travail.
On peut sentir a travers chaque cours , une vrai energie professionnelle . Chaque professeur , chaque eleve donne de son meilleur pour que l’échange soit le plus parfait possible, le plus intense . En plus du travail technique , il y a une vrai volonté d aider chacun a trouver sa propre danse , sa propre valeur . En tant que professeur, je suis completement inspiré par l’energie et la volonté de chaque élève .
3) Internationnal.
Le fait que les élèves viennent de tant de pays différents donne au WDM , une energie totalement particuliére et unique . plus qu’un apprentissage a la danse, cela devient un apprentissage a la vie . Les echanges, les dialogues parlés ou dansés en sont beaucoup intenses, cela permet des liens beaucoup profonds et instructifs . cela permet reellement la Famille WDM .

En observant les élèves du WDM, As-tu remarqué un changement dans leur manière d’aborder les cours entre le premier jour et le dernier jour?

Bruno: Chaque éléve arrive au WDM avec son propre bagage , technique mais aussi culturel . Cet élève va se retrouver confronter a une somme de nouvelles expèriences qui obligatoirement vont modifier sa façon de voir la danse. Rien que le fait de pouvoir travailler au sein d’un cours reellement de son niveau va l amener a chercher aussi loin que possible ses propres possibilités ; et cela tous les jours :du a cela, la progression technique est deja obligatoire. Ensuite la particularité de chacun au WDM est une grande force et ainsi on developpe beaucoup la personalité et la confiance en soi dans sa propre danse. Enfin, le fait d’être entouré par d autres etudiants de differents pays et culture permet deja un apprentissage des langues mais aussi une curiosité et un echange profond de tous les instants. Tout cela sans parler de l encadrement hautement professionnel de l equipe pedagogique choisie par le WDM.

En tant qu’enseignant, qu’est-ce qui te passionne le plus dans le fait de travailler au WDM?

Bruno: Pour moi, partir pour une nouvelle experience avec le WDM, c est comme aller retrouver ma famille . Je sais que je vais vivre de nouvelles emotions tres fortes qui resteront marquées a vie dans ma memoire . Je sais que je vais vivre des partages artistiques et humains tres intenses. Je ne vais pas au WDM pour “travailler”, je suis là pour simplement apprecier le savoir , la culture et l emotion de chacun et partager les miens.

Secondo te, quali sono le 3 cose principali che rendono il World Dance Movement differente da altri stage di danza internazionali? 

Bruno: Per me, le 3 cose principali che rendono il World Dance Movement differente da altri stage di danza internazionali sono:
1) La giovialità e lo spirito familiare.
Il fatto che siamo tutti insieme per una, due o anche tre settimane, ci fa sentire vicini. Possiamo condividere idee, opinioni ed imparare a conoscere i modi differenti di vivere la danza negli altri paesi da cui provengono gli studenti ed insegnanti.
2) L’energia e l’intensità del lavoro.
In ogni lezione, puoi sentire un’energia molto professionale. Ogni insegnante e ogni studente dà il proprio meglio affinchè ci sia uno scambio il più possibile intenso. Oltre al lavoro tecnico, c’è un reale desiderio di autare gli studenti a scoprire la proprioa danza, il proprio lavoro. Come insegnante, sono totalmente inspirato dall’energia e la forza di voltà di ogni studente.
3) Internazionalità.
Il fatto che gli studenti vengano al WDM da così  tanti paesi diversi, crea un’energia unica. Oltre che imparare a ballare, impari a vivere! Gli scambi e i dialoghi, a voce o attraverso la danza sono molto più intensi e creano un legame più profondo. È gratificante ed è quello che realmente crea la famiglia del WDM.

Osservando gli studenti del WDM, hai notato dei cambiamenti nel modo in cui approcciano le lezioni il primo giorno e il modo in cui sono l’ultimo giorno di lezione? 

Bruno: Ogni studente arriva al WDM con i l proprio bagaglio, tecnico ma anche culturale. Tutti gli studenti vivono tantissime esperienze al WDM, che senza ombra di dubbio modificano il modo in cui vivono la danza. Già il fatto che possano studiare in una classe al proprio livello reale, gli dà la possibilità di usare le proprie capacità ogni giorno, e questo permette una crescita tecnica. Inoltre la specificità di ogni individuo è una grande forza al WDM e questo permette di sviluppare la propria personalità e di accrescere la sicurezza in se stessi e nella propria danza. Per ultimo, ma non per questo meno importante, l’essere insieme a studenti da tutto il mondo permette di iniziare ad imparare nuove lingue e stimola la curiosita e la voglia di scambi più approfonditi. Senza dimenticare  l’altissimo livello professionale ed attenzione da parte degli insegnanti e dello staff del WDM.

Come insegnante cos’è che ti rende più entusiasta di lavorare al WDM? 

Bruno: Per me, partire per una nuova esperienza del WDM è come andare ad incontrare la mia famiglia. So già che vivrò delle emozioni intense che saranno per sempre nei miei ricordi. So che condividerò dei momenti artisiti e personali importanti. Non lavoro al WDM, sono lì per apprezzare la conoscenza, la cultura e le emozioni che ogni partecipante ha da condividere con me.

Ecco la nostra nuova bellissima intervista fatta agli insegnanti del World Dance Movement, Federica Angelozzi e Sabatino D’Eustacchio.

Federica, cosa ha rappresento il World Dance Movement per te come insegnante di danza ed artista?
Federcia: È un grande onore per me poter insegnare quella che è la nostra espressione della danza al World Dance Movement. Avere la possibilità
 di interagire, conoscere e coreografare ballerini provenienti da tutto 
il mondo non capita tutti i giorni, ma grazie a Michèle Assaf questo è 
possibile e vi assicuro che è un’esperienza unica. Per me e Sabatino 
vivere il WDM è un momento di puro sfogo professionale. Una fonte
 d’ispirazione e possibilità di studio con i più grandi insegnanti
internazionali.

Sabatino, quali opportunità ti ha offerto il World Dance Movement?
Sabatino:  Il World Dance Movement è stata la mia e nostra grande opportunità. Nell’anno in cui ho conosciuto Michèle mi sono reso subito conto che a lei non interessasse quanta fama o quanti danzatori potesse attirare il nostro nome. A lei interessava la nostra professionalità e il nostro linguaggio coreografico ed è così che il WDM è diventato la mia seconda famiglia. 
Negli anni questo evento è diventato il ritrovo di ballerini provenienti da tutto il mondo, ditemi voi se questa non è opportunità anche per me?!

Federica, cosa differenzia il WDM da altri stage italiani?
Federica: Il WDM non è uno stage e questa è la differenza! l WDM è una 
famiglia! Ti accoglie, ti cresce e ti matura sia professionalmente che
 umanamente. Crea il contatto umano tra l’insegnate e il ballerino, da’ 
la possibilità di vivere 24 su 24 la passione che unisce tutte le
 persone che arrivano al WDM. Si parla di rapporti umani veri, di
 lezioni fantastiche, di creazioni coreografiche, di spettacolo, di 
risate, di serenità. Chi viene sa che quando il WDM arriva alla
 giornata di fine evento è come se si cadesse in una crisi d’astinenza
 e si è subito pronti ad aspettare e desiderare l’anno successivo.
 Finalmente il WDM sta crescendo e ci sono varie tappe in giro per il  mondo, 
così da non dover attendere un anno intero!

Federica e Sabatino, siete contenti del nuovo concorso internazionale di danza del WDM? Cosa vi aspettate?
Federica e Sabatino: Finalmente!!! Si!!! lo aspettavamo da tanto! Sarà una grande novità
 e crediamo che arriveranno davvero dei forti talenti in questo
 concorso! Abbiamo grandi aspettative! Noi se avessimo avuto questa 
possibilità ai nostri tempi non avremmo esitato a partecipare! Ci
 sarà un grande giuria internazionale che non capita tutti i giorni di
 trovare nei concorsi in italia c’è possibilità di essere visionati e di
 poter vincere borse di studio in tutto il mondo che per un ballerino
 significa una grande opportunità di crescita professionale e per 
potersi far conoscere! Quasi quasi partecipiamo anche noi!!!!

Federica e Sabatino, come descrivereste gli insegnanti, le lezioni, e gli studenti del WDM?
Federica e Sabatino: Un’ unica parola può racchiudere la qualità e il livello che 
caratterizza lo staff, insegnati, le lezioni e gli studenti: UNICI.
 Come Abbiamo detto più volte prima, si parla di un livello altissimo 
di professionalità a 360°. Pensare di poter studiare con coreografi
 che sogni da una vita e avere la possibilità di danzare una loro
 coreografia a fine evento è un sogno che i ballerini italiani non
 possono non vivere!!!!!!

Here is our new beautiful interview with World Dance Movement faculty members Federica Angelozzi and Sabatino D’Eustacchio.

Federica, what has World Dance Movement represented for you as a dance teacher and an artist?
Federica: It’s a big honor for me to be able to teach my personal expression of dance at World Dance Movement. It doesn’t happen every day that you are able to interact, get to know and work with dancers from all over the World. Thanks to Michèle Assaf, this is possible and I guarantee you it’s a unique experience. For Sabatino and I, WDM is a pure professional outlet. An inspiration source that gives you the possibility to study with some of the best international dance teachers in the industry.

Sabatino, what kind of opportunities has World Dance Movement offered you?
Sabatino: World Dance Movement has been our best opportunity. When I met Michèle, I immediately realized that she didn’t care how famous we were or how many dancers our names could bring to the event. She cared about our professionalism and our choreographic language and that’s how WDM has become my second family. Throughout the years, this event has become the favorite of dancers coming from all over the world.

Federica, what makes World Dance Movement different from other dance workshops in Italy?
WDM is not a workshop, this is the difference! WDM is a family! It greets you, it helps you to grow and mature both at a professional and personal level. It creates a human contact between the teacher and the student, and it gives you the possibility to live your passion for dance 24/7 – that’s what connects all the people who come to WDM. We are talking about real personal relationships, beautiful dance classes and choreography, shows, laughs and serenity. Those who come to WDM know very well that when the last day arrives, everyone is sad to leave.  You are immediately ready to wait for and desire the following year. We are so happy WDM is growing, and that there are other events around the world so WDM dancers don’t have to wait a full year!

Federica and  Sabatino, are you excited about the new WDM competition this year?
YES!!!!! We have been waiting for it for a long time! It will be huge news and we think a lot of talent from around the world will come to compete at this competition! We are expecting a lot from this competition! If we had the possibility to participate in this competition when we were younger we would have definitely done it! There will be an amazing group of judges that is not easy to find in Italian competitions. Students will have the chance to be observed and win international scholarships – this is a priceless opportunity to grow professionally and to be known by important choreographers. We are almost tempted to participate!

Federica and  Sabatino, how would you describe the faculty, classes, students at WDM?
Only one word can describe the quality and the level that characterize WDM staff, faculty, classes and students: UNIQUE.
 As we said before, we are talking about a very high level of professionalism that manifests at 360 degrees. Imagine studying with choreographers that you’ve been dreaming about for a lifetime, and have the possibility to perform their pieces at the end of the event. This is a dream dancers can’t miss!!!

Interview with World Dance Movement faculty member Macia Del Prete. (Intervista con l’insegnante del WDM Macia Del Prete)

We had the pleasure to ask a few questions about World Dance Movement to our amazing faculty member, Macia del Prete.

Macia started her training in Torre Annunziata (NA) in Italy, at the E.Gravina Dance Studio studying ballet, modern, contemporary and Hip Hop. When she was still very young she started focusing on choreography studying at I.A.L.S in Rome, in USA (Broadway Dance Center, Peridance , Steps New York) and in Europe (Pineapple), as well as participating in numerous workshops with internationally acclaimed teachers. 1. What are the opportunitues World Dance Movement has offered you as a dance teacher and choreographer?

Macia: WDM has offered me the possibility to share my art and experience with other dance teachers and choreographers as well dancers who come from different backgrounds. This has stimulated my creativity and it has allowed me to get to know the dance world in a deeper way. I had the possibility to build work realtionships with other international artists and to be part of very interesting creative projects such as Picasso Dance Project, created in Madrid with the collaboration of other WDM choreographers and dancers from around the world.

2. In your opinion, what makes World Dance Movement different from other dance workshops?

Macia: In my opinion, what makes WDM different from other workshops is its unique cosmopolitan character, thanks to the internationality of its students (coming from over 20 different nations) and the international signature WDM artistic director, Michèle Assaf and her partners have given to the event. This allows both students and faculty to learn from each other and to grow in a very stimulating environment. Moreover, at World Dance Movement students experience a friendly and familiar environment provided by the faculty and stuff, that is very rare to find in other workshops.

3. Some of your Italian students have also participated  in  World Dance Movement Italy and Spain. Do you notice any differences in the way they approach dance after those experiences?

Macia: Absolutely!… the most important thing is their renewed enthusiasm for dance. Because of the situation in which we (dance teachers and choreographers) operate, it is always very difficult to stimulate our students. They don’t see many opportunities to enter  the professional dance world and this usally discourages them and makes them feel less motivated to improve. World Dance Movement offers many chances to get exposed in the professional dance world through the assignement of prestigious scholarships for international workshops and study programs around the world. Students love these opportunites and they feel they are receiveing an importnant help to achieve their dreams.

Abbiamo avuto il piacere di fare alcune domande sul World Dance Movement, alla bravissima insegnante Macia Del Prete.

1. Quali opportunità ti ha offerto il World Dance Movement come insegnante di danza e coreografa?
Macia: Il World Dance Movement mi ha offerto e continua ad offrirmi possibilità di confronto con colleghi e danzatori con background differenti dal mio, stimolando la mia creatività e conoscenza a rispetto della danza. Ho avuto modo di instaurare relazioni professionali internazionali e di prendere parte a progetti creativi come il recente Picasso Dance Project realizzato a Madrid collaborando con coreografi e danzatori di tutto il mondo.

2. Cosa rende  il World Dance Movement diverso da altri stage di danza?
Ciò che differenzia il World Dance Movement da altri stage di danza è l’impronta a mio avviso totalmente cosmopolita e internazionale data dall’ utenza e dal richiamo che la direttrice artistica, Michèle Assaf e i suoi partners hanno voluto imprimere all’iniziativa . Questo inevitabilmente significa, confronto, crescita e opportunità reali di formazione. Il tutto amalgamato dall elemento focale dell’estrema familiarità che docenti,strutture e staff riservano costantemente ai partecipanti.

3. Alcuni dei tuoi studenti italiani hanno anche partecipato al World Dance Movement Italia e Spagna. Noti delle differenze nel modo in cui approcciano la danza dopo quelle esperienze?
Assolutamente si… in cima il ravvivato entusiasmo per la danza . A causa del sistema in cui operiamo a noi insegnanti e coreografi è reso sempre più difficile alimentare la tenacia dei nostri studenti vista la totale sfiducia nella collocazione professionale che i danzatori soffrono. Il WDM offre possibilià di inserimento concrete attraverso borse di studio di prestigio e gli studenti lo apprezzano e si sentono parte di un sistema che tende loro una mano.
